Scarborough,
Canada – March 1, 2011 -
"The Boys" were at the
MLS Sportsplex in Scarborough today taking in one last training session
as a team before departing for Hong Kong on March 9th. The boys have
been selected by the High Performance Committee to represent Canada at
this year’s Tiger Bowls and China Open, running from March 12 - 17. It
was great to watch them taking part in some purposeful practice today,
focusing most of their time on drills they had picked up from coach
Lachlan Tighe at January's selection camp in Arizona.
The extent to which
these guys enjoy the game was written all over their faces and was
noticed not only by the regular crowd playing on the other green, but
also by a group of high school soccer players who were passing by the
greens on their way to the attached soccer dome.

Bowls Renaissance, is pleased to introduce the Rebound Disc
Practice System to help bowlers achieve maximum
performance. Invented in Australia by John Maher, and
heavily supported by Kelvin Kirkow, the reigning
Commonwealth Games Champion, the Rebound Disc System should
be part of every competitive bowler’s and coach’s kit. In
fact, Kelvin Kerkow maintains that “every bowler should have
a set of these in their bag.” More... |

Dales Targets Youths
in New Short Mat Bowls Initiative
Surrey, BC – March 29, 2009 –
Dales
Bowls Canada is pleased to announce a new Short Mat Bowls initiative
targeting new and young potential players in high schools and curling
clubs. This initiative is born out of the fact that to succeed as
a sport, bowls needs to break out of its stereotype as a sport that MUST
be
played
on
lawn bowling greens along with retired folks in white uniforms. “Our
proposition”, says Mario Battista, Dales Canadian Agent, “is to treat
Short Mat Bowls as a brand new sport for the young, which anyone can
also play.”
