My Soapbox

February 3, 2009

Hello everyone,

Just a word to welcome you to my Dales Bowls Canada website where I'll discuss topics that are strictly related to growing the game of Lawn Bowls, but with my bias.  My agenda is clear.  I represent the company and as such I'd like to sell its products, which are featured on this website.  And, my theme is "Go Green!". However, with the game in such decline, I believe that saving the game must come first and, that the means with which we do this must be different than those used to date, if we want different results.

With this in mind, you'll find my discussions focusing on younger

prospects, all the way from those who work to those in school, i.e.

Don't fear making our game "Trendy", i.e. rooftops, groups,

● create a "Prime Time" industrial adult league in your club,

● develop Short Mat Bowls for youths in High Schools

● develop a practical relationship with curling clubs and

Legions using Short Mat in the off-season,

● introduce New Ages Bowls to Elementary Schools,

● show you where to find the money to buy equipment,

an new artificial green or a new clubhouse,

● and, above all, use the Internet to communicate with you.

So, please investigate all the links in this website, educate yourself and ask for help when you need it or provide constructive ideas to speed us along.

Just so you know, this type of discussion is best served by a blog on the Internet or a Facebook conversation.  You will find fascinating conversations on Facebook.  Just get on www.facebook.com and search for "Bowls".  You'll find many options.  I suggest you begin with the newest one: "Bowls in Canada".

Now, we can all participate in the discussion together.  In the meantime, start thinking about the ideas introduced above.

Cheers,

Mario  Battista
