Massive post-season membership drive |
|
The
Zoomer Show’s Lawn Bowling Zone at the next Zoomer Show on October 29-30
will be the biggest and most dramatic membership drive ever for lawn
bowling clubs. Dales is pleased to have been invited to coordinate the
Lawn Bowling Zone and we are making it easy for everyone to participate
in this massive promotion to increase membership in record numbers. More
than 25,000 visitors expected.
• For a
fee of $350 each, participating clubs will display, within the Zoomers
Lawn Bowling Zone, a special 24”X36” Club A-Frame, which they will keep
after the Show. Club recruiters will demonstrate the game to visitors
and let them try it out. They will also promote their club to them and
sign them up for the next outdoor season or for their current indoor
season, if they have one. Our target is for 30 clubs to participate.
Early
Bird Special: Book by Sept. 15 and save $25.
• Each
club that joins this promotion will receive 200 free admission tickets
to the Zoomer Show, courtesy of Dales Bowls Canada. ($1,600 value)

Lawnbowls –
2011
Not just
grandpa and grandma's game anymore!
|
|
|
It’s time to turn our
thoughts to the upcoming lawn bowling season. With this in mind, I’d
like to invite you to cheer for the young members of our National Team
as they go to Hong Kong, next week, to play in the Tiger Bowls and China
Open events. As part of their preparation, they came to my MLS Indoor
club in Scarborough this week, attired in their new Bowls Canada
Outfits, to try out the new Taylor Ace Canadiana team bowls, which they
will use on their trip.
This formidable group of
young bowlers includes 2 teenage national champs. The team is very well
organized. You can meet them and wish them luck on their big adventure
on their wonderful blog at
www.gregorbowls.com
.
In order to promote the
changing face of lawn bowls in Canada, I encourage you to share this
with all your young relatives and friends so that they can see that
Lawnbowls is not just grandpa and grandma’s game anymore!

2010 Year in Review
Thank you everyone. What a year 2010 has
been for Dales Bowls Canada! Our first annual newsletter provides an
overview and our updated website the details.
The year was dominated by new artificial
surfaces in Richmond, BC (watch the amazing grand opening on DALESTV1)
and Niagara on the Lake, ON, which will continue to showcase our
Mastergreen product in our largest markets. Orders and prospects
for 2011 are promising an exceptional year for outdoor artificial
surfaces.
Our indoor short carpet business was also
very productive as this concept is attracting more and more players.
Carpet Bowling among Seniors' Centres and Residences is becoming an
increasingly popular offering coast to coast.
We began Canadian fabrication of
accessories in Ontario and introduced 2 new great Australian products:
The Rebound Disc Practice System and the "Your Mat" lawn bowls Boardgame
for your social members.
To hold all this together and to better
communicate with you, we have created the DALESTV1 You Tube television
channel, where you can keep up with what we're doing and see wonderful
positive lawn bowls stories.
We invite you to carefully review this
website, make sure you test all the links. We appreciate your
feedback.
Happy lawn bowling in 2011.

GROWING THE GAME INDOORS
Indoor
bowls is where the future of lawn bowls lies. Climate change and
environmental issues are quickly taking the fun out of it. With
that in mind, and encouraged by our success with the MLS Sportsplex
indoor project in Scarborough, we are now seriously promoting
accelerated development of indoor bowls centres across the country and
the introduction of Short Mat bowls in high schools

Clubs are "Going Green"
As a result of the global “Going Green” environmental movement,
water and pesticide restrictions
have made
artificial surfaces for lawn bowling very popular around the
world. The
low
maintenance requirements of Dales’ needlepunch bowls surfaces is
also very popular with greenskeepers and the budget-minded. The
green is always ready year ‘round. Top player and Dales Sales
Manager, Richard White, maintains that “Top players have found
that playing on artificial surfaces increases their skill
levels. Many top players practice on artificial surfaces prior
to participating in major tournaments”. In fact, the 2010
Commonwealth Games in Delhi will be played on Dales artificial
Surfaces.

Indoor play demand accelerating
fast
Demand to
play bowls indoors is also increasing at an accelerated pace.
The ever aging population has made Carpet Bowling much in demand
in most recreation centres, because of the use of smaller,
lighter, bowls and the 30-foot length of play.
Howev er,
the biggest increased demand for indoor play comes from the
popularity of the Short Mat game. Played with normal lawn
bowls on a 45’ by 6’ carpet, Short Mat has attained a very high
level of popularity. Big money tournaments are springing
up wherever the game is played. Because the Short Mat game
is portable, as mats are easy to move about and roll out, clubs
can emerge in school gyms, convention centres, hotel ballrooms,
banquet halls, and, even on factory floors or office building
lobbies.
