Most
lawn bowling clubs would love to participate in the going green
revolution by converting their grass green to an artificial lawn bowling
playing surface. Whether the greens are maintained by the club’s
respective Parks and Rec Department or self-maintained by an aging
volunteer greens-maintenance team, they are all faced with ever
increasing costs of hired help, supplies, equipment maintenance and
environmental concerns with fertilizers and water shortage. Financing
the cost of replacing an existing green or a clubhouse is a daunting task for all lawn
bowling club executives. Financing major capital investment projects,
such as this, is serious business and hard work. You won't be able to
do it with bake sales.
Here's my offer:
“In order to facilitate the decision to “Go Green” and purchase Dales
Bowls products, I will provide, through this local Dales website, a list
of potential funding sources, a sample business plan
an
online proposal and many marketing
tools and ideas to help you find the funds to replace your green,
acquire new equipment and
grow the game of bowls in Canada”. If you are willing to
think outside the box and work with the tools I provide to find the
sources that best fit your situation, then, all that will be left for
you to do is: personalize the materials and apply.
The Data Bases found on this page
provide links to hundreds of funding sources. Look for the

Lottery Grants
Lotteries in Canada provide a
significant source of funding grants for non-profit organizations.
This people's portion of the proceeds from Lotteries is administered by
the individual provinces. They each have their own system for
qualifying, applying and distributing the money. For this category,
I plan to point you toward this money one province at the time, starting
with British Columbia.

Governments
Provincial and Municipal financial support
is easier to achieve than direct Federal funding, since much of this
federal money flows through provincial and municipal programs.
This topic will direct you to governmental programs that can help you
raise substantial funding for your bowls project.
Note that Lottery Grants are Government
Grants and, as such, they are included in the percentage that can
qualify for government funding. Details... |

Foundations,
Legacies & Endowments Funds
You need to consider Foundations, Legacies
and Endowment Funds as very important sources of funding for community
related projects. Typically, large towns and cities have such
funding vehicles to assist with projects such as yours.
There are many philanthropists, out there,
who donate or leave property, large amounts of money or securities to
professional organizations that know how to manage and grow these funds.
You can even create your own fund, so that you can take advantage of the
generosity of your own members and their circles of influence. I'll show
you an easy way to accomplish that.

Service clubs
Over the years, Service Clubs have been
the backbone of community service. It's hard to imagine where we'd
be without their contribution and that of their volunteers. Today,
Service Clubs continue to raise funding for the community projects that
fit their specific area of interest. I'll provide you with links
to many of these clubs that will be happy to consider your well defined
and well presented bowls project. Booklets

Your own club sources (Tax Receipt)
As a non-profit organization, you can
provide tax receipts for financial donations. Using this method,
you can create your own funding drive. The problem is that you
need volunteers and a team of individuals who understand this process.
However, this is a very useful tool if you have access to members who
wish to make a donation. I'll show you tools and examples of how
you can do this.

Create your own non-profit organization
Raising money for any project is never a “slam dunk”,
especially when starting a non-profit or charitable organization from
scratch. Nothing can replace professional advice when taxation and the
law are concerned or to ensure the correct organizational structure for
your endeavour. However, it’s good to educate yourself before you seek
this advice so that you’ll better make your case and/or understand what
is going on.
The booklet titled “Taxation of Charities” by Deloitte is
intended for the Board of Directors, trustees and officers of charities
or non-profit organizations who require a concise source of information
on major issues concerning taxation on this topic and provides an idea
of how the government treats related activities. This information will
be particularly useful to those whose organization is registered or is
contemplating registration as a charity. Don’t let this discourage
you. It’s easy when you know and understand how it works. The
information found on this website is intended to help you educate
yourself before you fully “take the plunge”. |
